Concocted at the famed Carousel Bar in New Orleans, the Vieux Carré is a sophisticated and classic cocktail that evokes the spirit of the French Quarter. Fans of a Manhattan or brandy old-fashioned will find much to love about the Vieux Carré. Chicago bartender and Louisiana native Laura Kelton shows us how. Vieux Carré 0.75 oz. brandy 0.75 oz. rye whiskey 0.75 oz. sweet vermouth 1 tsp. Benedictine 2 dashes Angostura bitters 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters Add ingredients to mixing glass with ice and stir for 30 seconds. Strain into a glass filled with ice, and garnish with a cherry.
